At Levon Bread, the mission goes beyond baking bread , it is also to serve and up lift our community through nutritious ingredients & food.
I believe that in order for a community to truly thrive, its members must have access to high-quality, nourishing food that allows them to show up as their healthiest & best selves. Just as levain is the key to make bread rise, Levon Bread & Provisions aims to be the key ingredient that helps our community rise stronger, healthier, and more connected.
Over the years I have watched my neighborhood be impacted by food insecurity and limited access to healthy groceries while surrounding communities continue to welcome new supermarkets, specialty grocers, and fresh food options that never seem to find their way to us. Noticing this has been very frustrating and it's hard not to notice when the investment flows everywhere but here. However, instead of waiting for someone else to act, I have decided to be the change this neighborhood deserves. This new concept has no excess packaging, no big-box markups, just good, nourishing food, sold with dignity, in a community that deserves it.
Levon Bread is growing. My desire is to offer more than just artisan bread, I want to provide essential pantry staples like rice, beans, lentils, legumes, and spices. These core ingredients form the foundation of nutrient-rich, affordable, meals that bring people together in the kitchen.
Even more, I envision a mobile refillery truck stocked with bread and dry goods that can serve underserved neighborhoods. This mobile solution will bring fresh, healthy food directly to where it’s needed most, reducing barriers to access and minimizing packaging waste in the process. In a time where it is easier to have food delivered, Levon Bread & Provisions mobile refillery truck promotes cooking with one another, and sharing a communal experience!
Imagine a truck pulling up to your block — outside a church, a community garden, a park — where you can fill your own container with whole grains, rice, lentils, and beans. Real food, bought by weight, with zero plastic or food waste. Only paying for the amount that you need.
When people eat better, energy improves, minds clear, and people show up more fully for their families, their neighbors, their community overall. Good food is a quiet force. It doesn't just nourish the body, it strengthens a community.
Also, less packaging means less waste on our streets and in landfills. That means fewer plastic bags, fewer empty boxes, fewer food waste. And it leads to a cleaner, more cared-for neighborhood because the way we shop also shapes the places we live in.
This is a movement toward a West Philadelphia that eats well, wastes less, and rises together.
To turn this vision into a reality, I am asking for your support.
